Tend to Your Own Garden

Everyone has enough weeding to do in their own garden.  - Flemish Proverb

This is a loving reminder to tend to your own garden and not to worry so much about your neighbors.

Do you ever read or hear powerful words of guidance and transformation, then immediately think of someone else other than yourself? I attended an inspirational talk the other day with some friends. After the talk, listening to my friends, I noticed that they took the message and applied it to people they knew, not themselves, oh my mother should have been here to hear this talk. This is easy to do. The ego does not want to be called out. It can be hard to look at ourselves and think, what can I learn from this message? Or how can I grow from this? For it is in taking the powerful messages we receive and learning from them that we can ultimately change others, simply by being the example.

I can hear Michael Jackson's song “Man in the Mirror” now…”I'm starting with the man in the mirror, I'm asking him to change his ways... if you wanna make the world a better place take a look at yourself and make that change.”
